about

“Goodbye” is a song about the struggles of being unable to express yourself when you’re depressed. It plays with the concept of what it means to lose your way so dramatically that you wonder what’s the point of actually going forward anymore? Sometimes it’s just not going to be fine, but if it’s not going to be fine, should you keep going? The answer is, of course you should. Because while it can be so abysmal for so long, there is another side. Misery is only temporary, even if it feels eternal, and it’s always worth waiting out. This song is indirectly dedicated to our dear friend’s late mother. She was an incredible woman who passed away in early 2017.

lyrics

No one understands
Because no one feels what you feel
No one can comprehend
Because no one knows what you know

You see the world in a different light
One that’s short and fading
You can see this world has no more to offer
This you know

You say…
I am here to claim the darkness
I am here to say goodbye

They chose not to listen to you
No matter loud you screamed inside
Emptiness consumes what’s left
Your choice is made

You say…
I am here to claim the darkness
I concede my only fight
I invoke the empty silence
I am here to say goodbye

My time is running out
Growing shorter still

I reveal my unfulfillment
I bear witness to the end
I indulge the hour of mercy
Raise the angels, fade to black
Goodbye
