about

“Stay With Me” deals more with that idea of pushing away but wanting to stay. In the end, forgiveness and empathy go a great deal farther than grudges and ignorance. Although the lyrics in “Stay With Me” get a bit rough, the song is about a friendship. A friendship torn, beaten, and bruised, but not unfixable. The point of the song is that even though the relationship between these two people has come to a boiling point, in the end, they will refuse to give up on each other, because of what they went through together. No matter how much they want each other to disappear, they’ll never leave their side.

lyrics

I watch you fall
And pick up the pieces
I’ll sit here and watch
The view from up here is so much better

I wanna hate you
For what you put me through
I want your selfish heart that keeps you alive
But I just can’t

The hate that seethes through you
Only empowers me
To rise above the clouds
And reach for the stars

But every single time
I try to learn to fly
You clip my wings and keep me
From breaking free

Breathe soft but never speak it
It’s much too hard to believe
That it’s somehow symbiotic
That you’re still needing me

But after all this time
You’re still in debt to me
Two serpents interwoven
And I just want to unweave

It’s just too hard to see
That somehow now you’re like no one ever
Meant you to be
And you realize now in the end
You’re nothing without me
You’re far too afraid
To push on with the fray
So stay away

You took my world from me
Through all your lies and deceit
You pinned it all on me
But I will not concede

I gave you 4 whole years
Can I have the next four in peace?
Your presence is suffocating
Why can’t you let me breathe?

It’s just too hard to see
That somehow now you’re like no one ever
Meant you to be
And you realize now in the end
You’re nothing without me
You’re far too afraid
To put on this charade
So please just stay with me

Infatuate.
Then intimidate your only virtue
With your overbearing, under-caring,
Without erring, staring glare
I cannot, will not, shall not,
Could not, and would not show for you
The love, concern, intrigue and care
That you’re asking for
But…

I never wanted this
I know you never asked for this
But if you really wanna know
What I really wanna show
Just take a step back and listen close

You’re a dominating, fear-instating,
Manipulating asshole
A judgement-based, two-faced
Total waste fuckboy
Nothing but a waste of time
For me to even recognize
Feed your self indulgence
With your personal infatuation

Die, die, die, die
They chant for you ’cause they want no more of you
Die, die, die, die
You see that? Maybe you should just-

Burn, burn, burn, burn
Like a conjurer of the dark arts
Burn, burn
Burn at the stake
Like St. Joan of Arc

You wanna start a fight? I’ll wage a war
I’m the scariest thing since Mike Myers, bitch
Sit. Down.

Fucking psychopathic cunt
You look around you, realize no one’s there
I still don’t give a fuck about your goddamn problems
If you wanted a yard, you shouldn’t have stolen the mile

Go kick your ball around
It’s better this way
To leave me shattered and broken
But still in one piece

You stole my friend
And broke his heart in two
Yet you’re still wondering why I want you dead?
Fuck off

It’s just too hard to see
That somehow now you’re like no one ever
Meant you to be
And you realize now in the end
You’re nothing without me

It’s just too hard to see
That somehow now you’re like no one ever
Meant you to be
And you realize now in the end
You’re nothing without me
You’re far too afraid
To run away
So please just stay with me
